Inkheart

Inkheart is a great book filled with excitement, such as: "I told my self about a thousand times I need to buy a revolver for safety!" while robbers roamed around the house." It just makes me want to read more and more. I think every one should read it, it is pretty descriptive. I think everyone should read this book. When I think about this book, I think that the characters in this book don't care about their lives because their so crazy. I think that this book needs more story. For example, Mo, a character, gets kidnapped; or adult napped, but it would be cool if it said what happened. Over all,I think this is a great book. I am excited to read more!

Warriors:The New Prophecy Midnight

This book is a very good one, and I am pretty picky about the books that I read. This book was written by Erin Hunter, who is actually three people! But now isn't the time to tell you about that. Anyway, this book has a ton of action, and is definitely one of the best books that I have ever read. It is about four cats who go on a mind-bending journey that they know practically nothing about. Pretty exciting, isn't it?
While I was reading this book, I had soooooooo many thoughts and opinions. At first I thought that this book would be really boring. But boy, was I wrong! I think that this book could be read by anyone who enjoys adventure, boy or girl. I think that I would probably give this book a twenty bazillion percent grade,if this book were a test. I think that this book is suitable for anyone who likes cats and reads plenty of fantasy novels. I would definitely red this book again someday. It was an absolutely fantabulous read. I hope that if you ever read this book, you would think so ,too.

Kitchen Princess

This is an amazing, descriptive and delicious book. It is a graphic novel about a girl who is set out to find her prince. It even has great recipes in the back. Though it doesn't take long to read the a they are some of the worlds best books. The artist is an spectacular drawer. It is an absolutely fun book but a little confusing at first to read because since it is Japanese and you have to read it left to right. At the very front of the book there is a glossary for Japanesse words that are used in the text. That made it REALLY helpful. I can't wait to read the rest in the series.

the Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey

The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart was a great book so I was eager to go out and buy the Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey also by Trenton Lee Stewart. Being the second book in the series I hope that it is as good as the first book. There are actually more characters than in the first book like in this new book you meet, and not all of them are humans: Ms. Purumals mother, Madge, Captain Noland, Cannonball, Mr. Argent, and more. If I could have one personality Trait that you find in the book It would be being able to be so brave like Kate, you might be surprised that I didn't say I wanted to be able to basically have infinite knowledge like Sticky (George) but I wish I could conker my fears as well and as quick as Kate. If you know what a page turner is this sure is one! A page turner is a book where you just want to keep reading until the end of the book. This book is exciting, funny, adventurous, unique, and mysterious.

The Tales of Beedle the Bard

This book is like a fairy tale for wizards. It has magical things like a hopping pot that can help solve all your problems. This book is great if you like fairy tales and is great if you read Harry Potter. The book has many text to text connections from Harry Potter. When you read Harry Potter it helps you understand the magical things in the book. One text to text connection is that they both have magical characters a wizard or a witch. I notcied the magical people awlays had to do something wise, brave or foolish. In the first story there was an odd sickness called crop warts. I saw a cool word it was grievously ill. In the second story the witchs and Kight have awsome hard question like pay me the treasure of your past. There are three more stores that are great to read.

Look Who's Playing First Base

Look Who's Playing First Base is one of many books by Matt Christopher. It is a book about baseball. The team needs a first baseman and Mike their second baseman is coming home when he finds a kid named Yuri, he asks Yuri if he wants to play for Mike's team, the Checkmates. Yuri is a russian who moved to the United States of America last year. I think the book is really good, but I've only read about 80 pages and I would recommend it to baseball fans.

The Silver Chair (The Chronicles of Narnia)

The silver Chair is about 3 characters Jill, Eustance, and Puddlegum. Jill and Eustance are real people or daughter of Eve and son of Adam and Puddlegum is a Marshwiggle (a Narnian creature). Most of the story is about what Jill is thinking and what she is doing.

This is not my book but it is full of adventure there are talking owls, giants, kings and queens, petty much every thing. one of the things I like about this book is that there are little drawings I really like them they help picture the scene. I love fantasy books and I especially like The Chronicles of Narnia!  When I read this book I feel excitement and worry. I feel worry because the characters take risks.

I feel excitement because these character are on a mission and when characters are on a mission exciting things happen like say a character finds what they're looking for or they find someone or something that can help them.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid Do-it-yourself

This is probably one of my favorite activity books because it has some activities most other books don't.  For example, one of the pages has an impossible maze.  This book also asks you questions, and gives you quizzes.  Some of the quizzes will ask questions like:  Have you ever done this?, or have you ever done that?, or what's your least favorite this?, or what's your least favorite that? ect.  One of my favorite things in this book, though, is the comics.  it has ragullar comics, unfinished comics, and blank comic panels where you can create your own comics.  So, as you can see, this is a unique activity book.

When Santa Fell To Earth

When I saw the title of this book I quickly picked it up and started reading. My favorite character is Nicolas. He is a Santa. This book teaches you that not all Santa's have round tummies and beards. I also learned that Santa's ride with magical things. I like how imaginative the author is. I think it is cool how this author looked at Santa's a different way.

This book was written by the author of Inkspell. I like how the author made chocolate come into the story. This book has a lot of magic in it. I learned a lot of stuff in this book that I think I am not going to need. Before I read this book, I thought that Santa's ride around in sleighs. Now I know what really they ride in. This boy does bets with a genius. If he wins he gets to copy his papers during a test. I think that is absurd! I think that livens up the story. I think it is sad that the boy is ruining his own fun just because he is jealous of this other girl.

It is amazing how the author used things that seemed so harmless and cool and change them into mean characters. I have to say this book is one of a kind.

Cirque Du Freak 1 A living Nightmore.

Cirque Du Freak is a book by Darren Shan. The books main character name is Darren Shan weird right. He hangs out in a group of four Steve , Alan and Tommy. He goes to a freak show called Cirque Du Freak. They are freaks. Like a Werewolf, Snake Boy, or even someone who can chew through any thing his diet is glass and nails.
I think it is a very good book and even though no won I know who has read them has read all 12 of them. I know what they are about and they look really good so i probably not going to all of it is hard they are so many good books right under my eyes and they are usually really good when you have not heard about them because it makes it more thrilling.
I have noted that the saying don't judge a book by a cover is true.

Fablehaven

Fablehaven is a great book its like a Harry Potter, only in a kids talk way. It's very mystical and mysterious and some action, the book has fairies, witch's, greedy trolls and Kendra and her brother Seth (human beings) and of course this book can't go wrong with out a problem.
Kendra and Seth had no idea that their grandfather's a caretaker of Fablehaven, inside the parted woods just like the park only abounded nothing but the dark and trees, and what is inside is all fairies, trolls, and witch's. They all had laws and boundaries,
Then when the the rules and laws get broken, the forces of evil are among them, Kendra and Seth have to face the the biggest challenge of their life to save their family, Fablehaven, or even the world! If you love action, mystical books or fantasies this book is just right for you. when I read this book I'm can start to see the the woods, trolls and other animals or creatures on the pages seeing Kendra and Seth driving past the old house, Kendra and Seth stepping on the path of the ivy shack, and that's how I would look at the book but the surroundings just looking at the house, kind of darkish green with no sunlight. Well that is what Fablehaven is about.

Things Not Seen

Things Not Seen is one of the best books in the whole world. And it is also by Andrew Clements, author of the bestselling, Frindle. Frindle is definitely not as good as Things Not Seen. This book was very detailed, interesting, and well thought through.
As I was reading this fantastic novel, I thought it was a mysterious fantasy because Bobby, the main character wakes up one morning is invisible.
I also thought this novel was more of an interesting read. It was not really on the funny side, and more on the freaky side. This book was, like I said, was really, really good. Other people may look at this book and just say either "wow. It's by Andrew Clements! It looks so good!" or "Ugh. That looks like a boring book." But trust me, this is a really good book. And plus, you can't judge a book by it's cover!
Also, as you probably know, the author of the book is a very good writer. And this book was awesome. My favorite part in this book is everything. I actually do have an absolute favorite part. It is the end. It is a very good ending. But I am not telling you what it is. You are just going to have to figure it out on your own. Also, in the middle-end part of the book, the Bobby almost kisses the other main character which is why this book is also kind of romantic. Not really though.
I totally give this book a two thumbs up! Read it. You will like it. I promise.

Chicken Soup for a Horse Lover's Soul

The reason why I love this book is because there are so many short stories that break your heart and that are SO sweet. I personally like the happy ones. I really want a horse so this really helps me out. After reading Horse Lover's Soul I realize how hard it is to take care of them. My favorite chapter is God Bless Little Horse Lovin' Souls because it is so adorable how a little girl starts crying after her horse show because her horse Snickers did so well. This is probably the shortest story at a page in a half but is also the most descriptive and heart warming.
After reading the first chapter I was in tears. They were so sad, because a lot of the horses died. During these stories I felt a tingle in my body. I think one of the saddest was also really cute. It was about a horse named Martha who was going into labor and eventually give birth to twins, which is very rare. She only likes one of her babies and kicked the other in the head which caused a blood clot. She gets to go into the house and sleep in a room with the parents. Luckily she survives. The reason why I love this story is because it is just To cute to be.

After reading this book I can't wait to read a lot more books in the series.

Eldest

I'm reading the book Eldest.  I like the fantasy part in the book.  I think the author should have put more in Eragon's travel from Tronjhiem to Ellesmera because he left out most of it.  I also think that he should put more detail in the things that Eragon sees.  Other than that Eldest is a great book.  I like how there is a lot of action in the book.  I don't really understand how the magic works in the book.  I recomend t00his book to anyone who likes actions and fantasy stuff. But read the first book or else it won't make any sense.

The Sister Switch

The book Sister Switch is about identical twins. Andie has freckles because she is outside in the sun all the time playing sports like soccer, soccer is her favorite sport to play. And Caitlin likes music and math unlike Andie. But when Caitlin has to have a fitness test they switch their self, and when they try to turn their self back into them self everything goes wrong will they straiten everything out our will they mess it up. Andie and Caitlin tell their story's will the main story fluently continuous. When one girl tells the story from her site it feels like I am actually in the book, playing her. My favorite character in the story is Andie, because she is more sporty.

Cornelia and the Audacious escapades of the Somerset Sisters

This book, by Lesley M.M. Blume, is a book about a girl called Cornelia, who loves to use interesting, unknown words an to read dictionaries, and whose mom is a famous pianist. Cornelia's housekeeper, a french woman called Madame DesJardins, is always following her around, and Cornelia tries to hide from her. One day, she runs into an indian man  called Patel, who is trying to catch a mischievious pug called Mister Kinyatta. She finds out that Patel is the servant of a rich woman who lives right next door to her! Cornelia makes friends with the woman, whose name is Virginia Somerset, and sneaks away from Madame DesJardins as much as she can to go visit her. Together they have fun. Virginia tells stories about her childhood, and Cornelia listens and learns new, intersting words, since Virginia is also a word lover, with a library "filled' with dictionaries. Cornelia thought she lived a very boring life, but Virginia teaches her that the world is quite, quite exciting.
I thought that this book was very good because it has a lot of mystery and cliff hangers, but it's kind of the type of book that goes like this"Ok this happens. Bla bla bla. Now this happens. Bla bla bla. If you don't read it the right way, it can seem very boring. It is why I recommend it to more advanced readers, like 10-12 years old readers.

Shug

Annmarie's life has just changed. She goes to Junior High in September.  The boy down the street has changer, the other girls have changed. A week before the end of the summer, there is a girl/boy pool party. Shug(Annmarie), it the only girl who is wearing a one piece bathing suit. I feel bad for Shug because her dad is never home, also her mom only cooks when her dad is home. Her mom always makes excuse when Shug wants something. Shug thinks herself not as pretty as her sister and her mom. Lots of people say she looks just like her dad. This brings her down.
I'm only about a year younger than the character, Shug. I know that it is hard for Shug to manage her family and have people to laugh at her. I liked the part where one of the boys at the pool party starts saying things about Shug like "She's flat as a board." It was awesome when she made a diving bet that whoever did the best dive then the person who didn't win would have to carry the other persons books. I think this wouldn't be a fair trade because that guy said some mean things. I know what that feels like.
I like this book and I predict that Shug will stand up and say what she needs to. I also predict that she will either ask Mark or Kyle. She likes both of them because nice. But I don't think she will want Mark much longer because he is leaving her out and not doing the things they used to do. I understand because because they are going to Junior High, but can't he at the least just walk to the bus stop with Shug?
Well this is a good book and I would recommend it to people who like to stick with books.

Miki Falls

Miki falls is one of the best books I ever read. It is a manga witch is a kind of Japanese comic book. It's by a man called Mark Crilly. He is an amazing artist, and he even does tutorials on manga on YouTube. Miki is the main character in this book. This is her last year of high school, and she still doesn't like some one. On the third day of school a new kid comes. His name is Hiro. There is some thing strange about him, maybe it's the fact that he has isolated him self from every  one else, and doesn't want any friends. Miki doesn't know, but she can't stop herself from liking him.

One of my favorite parts of this book is when Miki and Hiro go on a walk on their way back it start to rain. There were thees funny circles in the back round, and i thought they were just a gate, but then in the next panel i was surprised there was a car! Then i realized  that the funny circles were head lights. The car hits Miki, and Hiro, but just barley. I was thinking how can you live through that. You are dead for sure if you get hit by a car! Then they get up. What? I thought in my head.

Miki falls may not be the most realistic of books but it is one of the bests.

Painless Algebra

From the same series as Painless Grammar, Painless Algebra is one of the easiest nonfiction books to read, though it may seem hard at first. From 3x(3x)=x3 to 5+5x/(-2)=38/2+x, this book has all of the math problems: the ordinary, and then some.
I really think that this book is very useful because I didn't know that to add two terms, they have to be like terms and use the same variables or else that is as far as you can simplify it. I didn't know that 3x+4x is 7x instead of 7xx. Also, I didn't know the three steps for figuring out variables in the equation above. I didn't know that lines on graphs have equations. Here is the rule that all lines follow: y=mx+b. M stands for the slope, and X and Y are the coordinates from one dot on the line. (For more information on the slopes of lines, check out chapter five.) Tons of useful information resides in this book, which I think was a great idea.

Book Fair Quick Picks

Got some money burning a hole in your pocket? Down to the last day of the Book Fair and still haven't decided what to buy? Here are some suggestions, all read by both me and my niece:

Magyk, by Angie Sage

This is the first book of several in the Septimus Heap series. It takes place in an imaginary world full of witchcraft and mysterious creatures. In it, a boy, Septimus Heap, who is the 7th son of a 7th son and who therefore has strong magical powers, disappears. His father, Silas, is entrusted with the care of Jenna, the daughter of a murdered queen. When Jenna turns 10, evil forces come after her to prevent her from claiming her place on the throne. The book is the story of Jenna's flight from those forces and the people who help her along the way.

The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart

The author of this book got the idea for it while trying to solve a puzzle in the newspaper. It is about a group of kids who answer a strange ad in the paper, the puzzles they have to solve as a result and the reason they have to solve them. Great characters, interesting puzzles and strong plot. The book fair is selling both this book, in paperback, and the hardcover sequel, "The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Perilous Journey"

The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick

My niece considers this to be one of the best books she's ever read. After finishing it, she insisted that her mom read it. Her mom liked it too.

This is a unique book, for is a combination traditional and graphic novel, without being either one. It is the story of Hugo, an orphan who lives in the walls of a train station. Beautifully illustrated with a very intricate plot leading to a fantastic ending. Already considered a masterpiece.

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card

This is the first book in one of my favorite science fiction series of all time. In it, children are recruited to become soldiers in a war against an alien race. Andrew "Ender" Wiggins becomes a star recruit, but as such, is given increasingly demanding tasks and is kept away from his friends. This is the story not only of his "Battle School" training, but of how, as he is given more and more power and is separated from his friends, he vows not to become evil and maintain his friendships. This book, along with its two sequels, "The Speaker for the Dead" and "The Xenoxide" are true classics and must read books for science fiction fans.
