The Big Field

This is a great book by Mike Lupica. In it, the main character's baseball team makes their city finals. It's almost every kid's dream to play on the "Big Field". It's no different in this book. Will they make it past the regionals and get to play at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida? If so, will they win the best-of-three series that awaits them when they get there? Find out in this action packed book.

It was a similar story when my Little League baseball team, the Royals, came from being in 4th place, all the way to win the 2008 city championship. I was out injured, but I still joined in on the celebration. We were in the first game of our regionals when we were losing 5-0 in the 5th inning(we play six innings), but this time our luck failed(our luck won us the city championship after we were losing 2-0 in the 4th inning), and we lost, 5-2. That's still okay, we at least won the city.

Pendragon

I think Pendragon is a great book, because it contains a lot of action, and I love action.  It is also very detailed, and descriptive.  It even has a bit of humor.  I'd recommend this book to anyone who can handle a lot of bloody violence, and of course, anyone who enjoys humor.

Usually, whenever I start reading, it's like I start thinking about nothing but what I'm reading. Why?  Well because it's about a regular teen ager, named pendragon, who gets sucked through time, and space, realizing that the future of everything that exists, and ever will exist, rests on his shoulders.  That's why.

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark

Indiana Jones is a book about this man who is pretty young and is looking for  ancient artifacts like the golden idol , the lost ark and many other artifacts.  There are also a lot of funny stuff like Indiana Jones is afraid of snakes.  In every movie and book Indiana Jones has a female side kick and some times there is a kid.

The Invention of Hugo Cabret

The book I am reading is good and exciting book. It is scary and interesting at the same time. It is action packed book and when you think it couldn't get any more exciting it does. It has lot of pictures that tell the story. The pictures are really good and they are also very strong and cool. I would recommend this book to people who like pictures. While I was reading this book I was wondering how this guy could draw these pictures. I wonder what it would be like if I was Hugo but happily I am not.

Warriors Power of Three Eclipse

Warriors Eclipse is a book about three ThunderClan aprentices Jaypaw, Hollypaw and Lionpaw. These young cats cats are part of a prophecy. Firestar their leader had a dream (that Jaypaw who is a medicine cat apprentice walked into) from Starclan an old cat said: three in of your kin have the power of the stars in thair paws. All of them are scared because one day they will be even more powerful then StarClan!

Jaypaw is my favorite charactor because he is blind and i like that because he can sence things, i think thats really cool!! There is a lot of action when the different clans are in battle, cats die and many get very injured. in the clan there are different groups of cats.  Warriors are one are one of them, they fight in battle, hunt for the clan and also can be mentors to the apprentices. Apprentices learn how to hunt and fight and have to clean the elders den. Elders are old cats who are to old to hunt and fight for them selves. Medicine cats are cats who don't learn how to hunt and fight but learn how to cure cats when they are ill and they get to share dreams with StarClan the most. In this book Jaypaw tells Hollypaw and Lionpaw their destiny. All of them are scared because they will be even more powerful then StarClan!

I love this book because it is full of exiting action and I can relate to their worries and problems. As I read each word gets better and I never wanted to stop. You'll be there for hours and always be at "the best part".  I loved this book and if you decide to read it you will too!

The Sisters Grimm by Michael Buckley

This is my favorite series because it is so exciting to read, and once you start you can't stop. It is all about two orphaned sisters Daphne who is 7 and Sabrina who is 11, and they solve mysteries. My favorite character is Daphne because her sister is sometimes really negative and Daphne is mostly always positive. They live in the world where all the fairytale citizens live, Fairyport Landing. Some of the citizens are Snow White, Goldilocks, Prince Charming and a bunch more. I am not going to tell you any more about this story so you can find out for yourself.

Some reasons why I like this series are, like I said before, it's very exciting, very unpredictable and complete action. I would recommend this series to people who like a bit of scariness, action and a lot of mystery. I relate to Sabrina the most because sometimes I can get grouchy when things don't go my way. Though I think I can be just like Daphne to. In each book they solve a different mystery.

Living The Dream Hakeem Olajuwon

This is a book about Hakeem Olajuwon. From growing up in Nigeria to winning the NBA championship. It tells about everything in his life, it tells about pick-up games at the Fonde gym, and about Mike Tyson crying. If you are a basketball fan you would love to read about this Nigerian native's story. His story is truly awesome he never even picked up a basketball until he was 17 and now he's one of the best power forward or center who ever played basketball. It talks about getting a visa and playing at the University of Houston and being the first pick in the NBA draft.

Fourth Grade Rats

This book is funny. It is very funny how fourth grade boys think they
have to do that. Some parts of the book are mean but some kids do that.
I liked how  it ended. I sometimes wonder why did they even think they
had to do that.My favorite character is Joey even though he isn't the main
character.I liked how he acted when his mood changed.I think that if Suds
hadn't been there then Joey would have been through a lot of pain.

The Wee Free Men

The Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett is a great book, good for  people who like fantasy, I like how it is discriptive.  It is a good book, about a girl with small blue men with red hair trying to save her little bro.  This is a great book for people who like adventure, mystery, fantasy, and exiting books. Their is also foot notes once in a while. I recommend this book.  It tells you all the details and is different then other books;and at one point, it tells about how those books "control" your mind like they say witches are evil. Do they have to be?

Spoiled Rotten

I'm  reading a book called Spoiled Rotten. Its a really good book so far. It has discriptive sentences like: "When i looked up she was pressed against the cliff above me with her toes balance in a tiny cleft in the rock face." as you can see the author Dayle Campbell Gaetz is very descriptive writer.

I would recimend this book to anyone who likes adventure, romants, funny, sad, and lively books. I wouldn't recommend this book to someone how doesn't like all those things, but theirs a lot of things listed their, So... who wouldn't like this book? go and read it and find out!

The things that went through my head was that i felt kind of bad for her i mean mom died and her dad is marring a new women. How would you feel if your mom died and your dad is marring a new women? I would feel not so good, but there was a lot of adventure and when i read adventure story's i feel existed, scared, I wonder a lot, and I get amused by all the action. When I'm reading this book I feel like have a life kind of a life like hers, because my mom and my dad are separated  and i know how it feel not to see one of your parents for a long time like a week to maybe even a month and a half. I know it's hard and i can really connect with her. And by the way I'm not spoiled rotten and i probably  wouldn't be by the way, in my point of view Spoiled Rotten is not really a good name, but it kind of fits it.

well anyway hope you read this book, hopefully you like it too!

Penny From Heaven

Penny From Heaven is a fabulous book. Penny's father died a long time ago so Penny lives with her mother, grandfather, and grandma. It takes place sometime in 1953. I liked this book because the main character, Penny is telling the reader everything that happened to her every day. Also Penny has SO many relatives and her dad's side is Italian and her mom's side is American. Her relatives have so many of their own stories to tell Penny and their very interesting. Penny also has some interesting stories herself. for instance, the story ends in how Penny got her hand stuck in the wringer and how she was in the hospital, then her arm got better and she went back to school. I'm really glad I got a chance to read Penny From Heaven.  And I'm also glad I got this book for my birthday because if I didn't I would have never gotten a chance to read the great book.
Also, the author, Jennifer L. Holm, won a Newbery Honor Award for Penny From Heaven. Jennifer Holm also wrote the Baby mouse series and The Creek. Right now, she lives in Maryland with her son and husband.

P.S. Longer Letter Later

P.S. Longer Letter Later is a great book because it is all letters. It was really neat to see how their friendship went on even though they lived in different states. Also it was a complete cliff hanger at the end of the book. I like cliff hangers because they get me to read the next book.
It is funny and you get to know every detail that happens in the book. If you like details this is a good book for you. Also if you have read it already then the sequel to it is Snail Mail No More. You don't have to read them in order, but it helps a little. the book is about two girls who are best friends and one moves away and the only way to communicate is by sending letters and e-mails. With each letter or e-mail they send to each other it is like you need to know whats next. The emotions change in each letter or e-mail. This is a great book for you if you like quick reads.

The Tail of Emily Windsnap

The Tail of Emily Windsnap is a great book because it is full of action. I recommend it for people who are interested in lots of wonder and enchantment. Because that is what this book is full of. I really like it because all of the characters are very determined to get what they want. A lot of this book takes place in boats, and water. It is a wonderful story that has friendship, family, and a little bit of romance. I rather think that this jut a little more of a girl book than a boy book. I think that because the book has a lot more girl characters than boy characters. I also know that the author put a lot of hard work into making this book sound like it could actually happen. This book is fantasy because it involves a ton of mythical creatures. I would give this book a 12 out of 10 because I thought that the author was very successful in making this story have a voice. I love this book so much that I felt that I absolutely needed to post it.

The Jagaur Stones: Book One Middleworld

The Jaguar Stones: Book One Middleworld is a  mixture of Indiana Jones and Harry Potter. Its packed with adventure and is almost scary at points. Its one of the best books i have ever read. It was written by a friends of my parents which gave me more of a boost to read it I even got bookplates and bookmarks all signed! I was really excited about that.

I think that the main character, Max, is a lot like Max G., a previous student of Maggie's because he is an average teenager who is addicted to video games and pizza--and a lot more of Max G personality. I  learned so much in the book without even realizing it. I find myself knowing Mayan hyroglphs  and Mayan history.  They have a little section at the end that tells you all the stuff you have learned. I recomend  this to anyone who likes a page turner ( a book that is so exciting you could make a cliff hanger on almost every page).

Chasing Vermeer

Chasing Vermeer is a great book about a girl and a boy who go on an adventure to save a stolen painting. This book taught me what pentominoes are,and that was a great help to me,because you need to know what they are to figure out the book's mystery. I got this book at the  Mill Valley Public Library's book sale  because a friend/neighbor  recommended it to me. Ever since I started reading this book,I could not take my eyes off the pages, and as quickly as I had started,I finished it. Book also has a hint of fantasy, and a bit of action. But it's mostly mysteries. If anybody likes action, and enjoys the Indiana Jones series, and not to forget mystery,AND just a tinge of math ,this book is the book for you.

This book is a great book for teachers to read aloud to their fifth grade classrooms. This book is a very good book with tons of different genres, and to you fourth graders, this book is a great RRJ response to any teacher you've got this year. Kids nine or older can read this book without getting too confused, but if you are younger, this book will probably way too hard. I recommend this book to any bookworm.
