I think that the main character, Max, is a lot like Max G., a previous student of Maggie's because he is an average teenager who is addicted to video games and pizza--and a lot more of Max G personality. I learned so much in the book without even realizing it. I find myself knowing Mayan hyroglphs and Mayan history. They have a little section at the end that tells you all the stuff you have learned. I recomend this to anyone who likes a page turner ( a book that is so exciting you could make a cliff hanger on almost every page).
Take our classroom booktalks one step further: blog it! If you've got a book to recommend, post a recommendation and tell what your friends why you liked the book -- but don't give the story away...

The Jagaur Stones: Book One Middleworld
The Jaguar Stones: Book One Middleworld is a mixture of Indiana Jones and Harry Potter. Its packed with adventure and is almost scary at points. Its one of the best books i have ever read. It was written by a friends of my parents which gave me more of a boost to read it I even got bookplates and bookmarks all signed! I was really excited about that.

I love your connection to Max. That, along with your connections to Mayan history made me want to read this book right away. Thank you so much for donating it to our classroom, so other kids can enjoy it, too!
