Bird Lake Moon

I'm reading Bird Lake Moon by Kevin Henkes. He is one of my favorite author's because two of my favorite books are by him so I'm glad to be reading another. Bird Lake Moon is about a boy named Mitch who lives with his mom and grandparents in a house on Bird Lake. This book has a character change after each chapter so the other character is Spencer. Spencer with his family, came to visit Bird Lake during the summer. The mom is scared to go there because that's were her older sun drowned in Bird Lake when he was little. Spencer and his family stay in the house right next door to Mitch. At first they are not getting along so well and you'll have to see if they become friends or not. I have not gotten that far in the book to find out though.

I really like this book so far. At times its a little confusing because they switch off between Mitch and Spencer, but otherwise its a fun book to read. Usually I don't really like reading that much but this is actually a really good book. One thing I really like about Kevin Henkes is that he always writes books that want me to keep reading. I loved Olives Ocean and Protecting Marie. Those we also really great books that wanted me to keep reading. I like the way he makes his books interesting and not boring so you will quit the book.

So far this book is happy and sad. Sad because Mitch's dad left there family and went to another woman's house. It was also sad because Spencer's older brother is dead and died at the lake they swim at every day. But it is also a happy book because They get to go to the lake every day, have someone almost your age staying next door, and getting to live with your grandparents to keep you company. For some reason this book makes me happy when I start to read it. Maybe because both of the boys had a hard time in life and got though it or just having sad moments turn in to happy ones, I don't really know.

I'm really enjoying this book so far and I hope to enjoy it some more as a read on. I cant wait to finish this book!
