Hang A Thousand Trees With Ribbons
I am reading this book right after I just read Copper Sun. They are both about slavery, and about a girl who comes to America from Africa to be a slave. The difference is that in Copper Sun Amari was treated awfully and didn't have a good life. In this book, Phillis is treated like part of the family that bought her. In Copper Sun, Amari hates that boy that does things with her. But in this book, Phillis falls in love with the boy who is almost like her brother.

I think slavery is totaly wrong. Is this just a love story? What would you rate this book from 1-10. would you say it is a scary and violent? To me the cover looks like just a book from the olden days.
ReplyDeleteI like how you compared these two books with each other. Did the people in the book who treated the girl well think that slavery was a convenient twist in their lives, or did they think it was wrong?
ReplyDeletethey think that it is convenient because they have slaves of their own.
ReplyDeleteThis book isn't just about love, it's about how Phillis is trying to become a poet.
