  1. I think Witch Child is a book that is sad, but interesting. Strange but not. It's the kind of book that you just can't place. It starts out very quick, I'm not going to tell the sentance, but let's just say things get a little messy. The book takes place in the era of Witch hunting. The main character is thought of as a witch, andcwhen her grandmother, the person caring for her is hung, she is wisped away by a stranger. Soon after she finds her self on a boat to America, with many adventures ahead of her. I suspect it will be a great book, and a great page turner.

  2. Based on the first page of Witch Child, where characters talk about skewering cats and bashing rabbit’s skulls, I think the book might turn out to be pretty gory. Even though the story is mysterious and sometimes even exciting, I would only give it a four on a scale from one to ten. The reason I wouldn’t give it a ten is because there are a lot of gross parts, including people losing their lunch, which I just don’t like at all. Also, I was disappointed that the story up until now has barely had any magic. Because of the title of the book, I thought there would be lots of wizardry and potions and magical solutions. So far, I haven’t found much of the sort. This is because Mary, the main character, can’t do that kind of magic. All she can do is read people’s futures. I’m hoping to read more about magic, like the kind Mary’s grandmother could do, as we read more of the book.

  3. The book witch child is an ok book. I would rate it a four on a scale of one to ten because I like to read books with a lot of action and this book is not that interesting, at least not to me. In the book there is a girl named Mary her grandma was a witch and so is she. Mary is a witch, but she can't do magic, she can only see the future. I think that this will come in handy in a part of the book.

  5. The book I am reading, "Witch Child", really got me thinking. I made connections about what I already knew, my backround knowledge, and i had a lot of sticky notes in my book! In the book, it talked about the Nothern Lights, the Puritans, and the Colonial life for Mary Newberry.
When I read this book, I think about what it would be like if I was Mary, a young witch on the run. I have a lot of backround from Social Studies. We learned about the Puritans.
I really like this book because I think a lot and make connections.

  6. In my book group we are reading Witch Child. On a scale of one to ten I would give this book a five, because the story doesn't really interest me. Also, it doesn't really keep me at the edge of my seat wanting to read more. I don't really enjoy reading this book as much as I usally do with a book that interests me. Also I love to read books with a lot of action and this book is kind of slow. In the book,Mary, the main character in this book is a witch, but can only read the future. I think that her ability to read the future will come in handy later in the book.

  8. I’m reading Witch Child for my book group book. The first 20 pages of the book were amazing, they were nail biters they were gory, and many other things that make a book good. After this I just got wiry, I didn’t want to read this book any more and I still fell the same way about the book.

The reason I have not like this book is, the book is pretty much word by word what happened in her day, which never really has any cliffhangers or any thing really exiting. I’m sorry if you really liked this book I may not have had the same feeling about the book
