Following Fake Man (Chessy, Laine, Christian, Kate)

  1. I really like this book so far. My favorite character is Roger. He has a very exciting pesonality. He seems very fearless and really wants to follow a man. He is also very funny. If I had wrote about him I would have given him a Irish accent. Since he is fearless I guess you could call him brave to because he does a lot of scary stuff that I would not do. He is not the main character though. The main character's name is Homer. He is a chicken, but Roger is turning him back to human by doing a lot of brave stuff. Roger is Homer's only friend.
I have not mentioned much about the start of the book. It is hard to tell the start of it because there is only Homer, his mum, and thier housekeeper/maid, but I can tell you what I am wondering about it. At the start of the book it says, "This kid was nursed on a pickle and weaned on prune juice." What in the world does that mean?! It sounds funny so this book could be called a funny book, but of course once you have read a bit of it you will see that it is a mystery book to!
Of course this book realed me in. It book cover is very interesting with a shape of a man with trees in the background and inside the man is the sky and sea with ships on it. I think it is a great cover.
I think lots of people will like this book. People who like mystery, humor and some action will really love this book.

  2. This book is one of the best books I have ever read. My favorite character is Madeleine, she is the Maid of Homer Winthrop ( the main character) and his mom. Madeleine does a lot for the Winthrop's. She cooks, cleans, drives, and much more. Homer tells us in one part of the story that Madeleine fells like his other mom. If I where Madeleine I would be so happy that he feels like that about me! Now when I got home from school, I started reading Following Fake Man, and I couldn't stop, but eventually I had to. I read about an hour long. The book is about Homer, it may be a bit about Roger as well. Homer needs Roger very badly at first but then he knows a lot more than when he first came here from Boston. His mom is so not knowing anything he is up to, because she is, I am not going to tell you anything els because IT WILL RUIN EVERYTHING FOR YOU. But seriously like Chessy said the book is good for people who love mystery, humor, and action. I really love this book to.

  3. From what I have read so far of the book Following Fake Man, I think that I can tell that this book will be a lot easier for me to respond to than Eggs. While reading this book, I find myself asking questions and making connections throughout the chapters I read each week. I am not exactly sure what makes the book so easy to respond to for me, but I'm sure I will find out as the book goes on.
My favorite character in the book is most definitely Madeleine because, one, she took a little more thinking to find out who she really was, and two, she seems to be a little bit underestimated in what people think of her. I think that is one of the authors tricks. I can't help thinking that she is going to have a big part in the plot of Following Fake Man. She also reminds me a lot of my Aunt Mary-creigh in the way that she always thinks of others before herself. Sometimes Madeleine never thinks of herself!
All in all, I think that this book holds a promise for me to read. I can't wait to read more about Homer and Roger.

  4. So far Following Fake Man is very interesting. It's like Homer and Roger are pondering about a mystery that nobody thinks about, though it is very suspicious. The thing is, Roger takes it as a game, but Homer takes it seriously. So that's why I think it's interesting, but it is very fun also; considering the way the book has different points of view. Out of ten (being the best, one being the worst,), I'd rate this book 8.5, and I recommend this book.

  5. Dear Dr. Withdrop,
I admire that you were able to eventuly get over your husbands death. I appreciate how tried to make it up to Homer at the end of the story.
Without you the story could not go on because if you hadn't been acting the way you were then Homer wouldn't have wanted to find out about his father as much and then the book would turn into a whole different book with completly different things in it. You are the books wall. It needs you to stand there so it can build other things around you. You also made the book have more feeling, because you were so sad that made you put emotion in the book and how you felt about what was happening in the years passing.
I have to say you could improve on the silent part. I mean you could have told him a tiny part about his father because you got him into all the trouble by not telling him much. You could have also been more loving to him. Not being a silent zombie and talking about regular things. You could also improve your face. Your face shows your feelings when you try to talk. Try practicing in a mirror.
    Your Fan,

  6. Dear Madeline,
I loved how you gave Homer such great advice, like when you told him to take a warm bath, it really helped him. I do admire the hard work you do, if you couldn't get the house as clean as it is now, then Dr. Whithdrop would probably want it to be sparkiling. And I appreciate how you are always cool about things, people can have more fun and you are one of them.

You totally made the story better by letting Homer make connections with Roger, and that you took care of Dr. Withdrop's headachs. If you had not really done that, who knows what would of happend to her. She could of got suspicius and hunted down the answer to where Homer was. Another thing is, if you weren't the maid and they didn't have one, then they wouldn't be able to go to Main with Homers mom's Headaches.

I need to tell you that you where great, but I need to tell you a couple of thing's you could have done. One of the things is you could have told Homers' mom that you are going to take a walk with Homer, and then go to see if Roger is the right friend Homer should have, and get to know him better. The second thing is you should given her chicken noodle soup to eat and asperin.

  7. Dear Owen Castle,
First of all, I really admire how you trusted Homer with your big (HUNORMOUS) secret. It must have taken a lot of courage to just let loose and spill the beans like that. Also, I apreciate that you didn't give up on being an artist when people discovered that you were painting near them. I think that it was very clever of you to think up that disguise idea. Very, very clever.
But, unfortunately, I have some ( okay lots) of pointers for you. Strating with your people skills. For instance, I think it was kind of selfish of you to hate and despise that people wanted to watch you paint. I would have been flattered. Why couldn't you have let thise people have the joy of watching you paint. I mean, what's the big deal?
But, you did really add to the story and its' plot, because you brought a great mystery to it. There were times when I was dying of suspense to find out who you were, and other times I was just shocked at something you had done. Like when Homer and Roger saw you at that spooky cabin. Now that, was awesome.
All in all, you were definitely my favorite character in the book.
    Yours Truly,
    Laine MG

  8. Dear Homer,
I think that you have gotten very lucky, but you should be more careful next time. I do think though, that you are pretty brave at doing things that you (hopefully) know you shouldn't do, but being brave isn't always good. I think you should stop doing these stunts and just take a brake.

You are doing good so far, but you should stop lying and disliking your mother. You wouldent be alive with out a mother (and your story wouldent be as good).

    From,
    Christian
