  1. My book club book is called Maniac Magee, written by the famous Jerry Spinelli who has written many other books too. This is also a chapter book, so far in the book it left me with a bunch of questions, which is great if you want to get the reader thinking and inferring.
Well Jerry wrote about this boy named, Jeffery Lionel Magee, people think that Maniac Magee ( jeffery) was a street rat who was born in a dump, his stomach was made of a cereal box,and his pet was a cockroch on a leash! All I have to say about that is GROSS.
I want to tell you some questions too, so 1. ( there is a girl named Amanda who is Magees friend) Why does Amanda bring a suitecase in sted of a backpack to carry all her books? 2. Is it bad to come from Bridgeport? 3. Is the west end of the school for colored kids? 4. Are the high schoolers beating up Arnold Jones? If I had a job to rate this book 1-10 it would be a eight, so I recomend this to anyone who likes to really think and infer books.

  2. I'm reading Maniac Magee and I have not read the whole book yet but so far it's great. One of the reasons I like the book is because the author is Jerry Spinelli who is one of my favorite authors. Jerry Spinelli has books little kids too and they are all good. I have read a lot of books that really did not like but from what I have read there are so many cliff hangers and thats what I like. This book is an exciting book about a boy named Jeffrey Magee and He is a runaway kid that is finding a new life.

  3. I'm reading Maniac Magee and I really like it. It makes you think a lot because it dose't just tell you what happened you have to infer what happened. You also get lots of questions and it dose't ansnwer most of them like Why is Jeffery Maggee (aka Maniac Maggee) so fast? It also is a older book so you learn a lot about the past. I would recomend this book to anyone who likes to infer and have questions.

  4. I'm reading Maniac Magee. So far throughout the first 120 pages it has been a really good book. The book shows that everyone can live together. Jeffrey (a.k.a Maniac)is white and he lives with african-americans, baseball players, and animals. I read another book by Jerry Spinelli called Eggs, it was also a really good book. This is a book where it doesn't just give you the answer, you have to think, ask questions, infer, and many other thinking stratigies. In my opinion the first 120 pages were better than Eggs' first 130 pages. If I were to rate this book from 1-10 I would rate it a 9, because it isn't a "perfect" book, but it still is a very good book. I also like how Jerry Spinelli split the book up into parts instead of just starting a new chapter. My main question is: How did Maniac get the athletic ability he has, was he born with it, or did he run every morning like he does with Bow Wow.

  5. I'm reading the book "Maniac Magee" by Jerry Spinelli. The book's about a kid named Jeffery Magee (later Maniac Magee) who is a sort of street kid that has many CRAZY adventures. He talented at many gets in sports, runs like a maniac, gets involved with a gang, and many other crazy stuff! Though it's in discrimination times,Jeffery will try to erase all the evedence. My favorite character MANIAC MAGEE!!!
I would recomend this book to people who like realistic fiction or/and comedy, great book, you'll never want to stop reading it. With lots of turns this is the perfect book for a kid of almost any age.
Here is a song about Magee from the book:
    "Ma-niac, Maniac
    He's so cool
    Ma-niac, Ma-niac
    Don't go to school
    Runs all night
    Runs all right
    Ma-niac, Maniac
    Kissed a bull!"

So go to the closest book store or library, GET "MANIAC MAGEE" AND START READING.

  6. Dear Mr. Grayson,
The story wouldn't be good at all without you because Maniac Magee would not have a place to call home (for a while). You also set up a good plot for the book.I admire you because you were very nice to Maniac Magee, I think you were the nicest person in the book. You put lots of hard work into raising Maniac Magee, and making him a very nice house. In fact better then yours.

I think that you could inprove on your reading even though you inproved a lot before you died. So find some great books in hevan.
P.S. can you get me unknow 6th book of the Percy Jackson & The Olympians, called The Last Prophecy.
    Sincerely,Matia

  7. Dear, Amanda Beale

I liked how You took in maniac the first time you met him all the way to the end. When you met maniac you trusted him from the start you gave him something special. If you were not in the story maniac magee would have never of had a home to stay in. If you hadn't helped him he would have been homeless forever. You could have been nicer in the book but you were fine

  8. Dear Mars Bars,
You were defenetly BAD. I admire your cool and toghness. You were a little challenge for Maniac and kinda a laughing stock for the readers, but in all in all you're a great addition to the book. You are also unexpected, in one capter you're Maniac's arch enemy, in the next you're his best friend. I think sometimes Mars, you get to bad. Isee a good uy in you,so be good. Don't look at me like that, I'm just giving you an advise. You're my favorite charcter in the book and will be.
    P.S. Amanda calls you Snickers.

  10. Dear Mars Bar,
You were great because Maniac wouldn't have a villian if you were not in this book and you definatly did a good job of it.
You have to admit you got humiliated when Maniac beat you backwards and you actually thought you had a chance at winning but you did a good job of being stupid about and telling little kids that you had a cousin named Milky Way because the adults know that you don't have a cousin named Milky Way. You did a good job of acting like a baby and thinking that you would have died if you entered the buffalo pen. You did a bad job of turning into Maniac's friend. Usually in a really good book they don't just be arch enemies and turn into best friends instantly. In a good book they are total arch enemies and slowly become best friends.
Overall you did a really good job and you did a good job of acting stupid but you are not perfect so work on those things.

P.S. You are definatly not fast enough for Maniac so you gotta get on the treadmill and work out.

  11. Dear Amanda Beale,

I thought you and the book were great. You played a very important part in the book. If you weren't the book you wouldn't have been able to adopt and save Maniac Magee. I also have some advice for you. I thought that you could have been a little kinder to the others characters in the book.
