So far in the book Things Not Seen by Andrew Clements, I thought about the characters a lot. Before I had to make this post I thought to myself, how can I relate to an invisible, 15 year old boy? Then I relized that there was a lot of personalities I could relate to. One morning Bobby Phillips turns invisible, and his dad tells him not to tell anyone. He then tells a girl named Alicia, who he befriends. His parents get in an accident, and he must stay clam. I can relate the most to Alicia because of all the traits she has of being a good friend. She is funny, likes everything the way she wants, smart, serious, and trustworthy. Not many people can hear about an invisible boy and not tell a single soul. I don't think I could but I am still good at keeping secrets. This book is really good so far, and I would recommend it to anyone who likes science fiction fantasy. I would rate it a 8 1/2 out of 10. I can't wait to keep reading!
Right now I am reading a book called Things not seen by Andrew Clements and so far this book is really a pretty good. As Haley was saying How could I relate to a 15 year old boy who turns invisible? But, after I started reading more and more I realized that it was easer then I thought to realate to this book, But there it's not big things there just the little ideas that you can catch on to. You can also realate to the characters like I can realate to a girl named Alicia, because she is funny, takes things serouis when needed, very smart, and really trustworthy. She is trust worthy because she has not told a single person about what happen to Bobby (the guy that truns invisable). I must say it would be hard to keep that big of a secret. I defantly like this book and I am dying to read on. I would rate this book anywhere from a 7-10. So this is my advice to YOU, kick off your shoes, grab this book and read it!
I am currently reading Things Not Seen by Andrew Clements and I think it is pretty good. The character I like the most i Alica because she interests me and because it helps me understand what ts like to be blind and I don't know anybody who is blind so its just like I just met someone like that. This book is very unique to all of the other books he has written. I don't understand how Alicia doesn't feel awkward around Bobby because he's like naked but they do never say that she doesn't feel awkward around him but I infer she doesn't because lately she's been pretty fine around him. I think the relationship between Alicia's father and Bobby's father was intended by the author, them both being a kind of scientist which I don't like. I don't like that the author made them so similar because if they had more differences it would spice the book up more. Its the similar with the two mothers, they are both different but they get on very well and the author really brings out their similarities. otherwise this is a very good book and I cann't wait to read more!
Dear Alicia, As a blind character you have really stepped up to your challenges, like on page 90 when you found out that Bobby truly was invisible, of course you would freak but you handled it very calmly. Now THAT gives you courage. You have also given this book feelings. You fall in love with Bobby, you feel no one cares about you, and you too feel like your invisible! This brings the book some emotions and makes me want to keep reading more. Without you in this book there would still be a problem but Bobby wouldn't have a friend to depend on. He wouldn't have found out how to come back to normal. You were very smart when you figured out how to solve Bobby's problem! I bet everyone wished they were you. One thing you may need to improve on is being too serious sometimes you go a little overboard. Like on page 104 when Bobby asked you how you became blind and you got really mad at him the day before. Some people are like that they either get really mad or don't really care! Trust me on this one I have been there, done that, so I will give you a tip! When someone asks you a question that you feel is too personal just tell them that. It makes you feel better AND the other person too. Good luck!
Dear Alicia, I think it is really cool that you helped Bobby through the tough times. If I was invisible I would be petrified if I were Bobby and would not of survived without a Friend like you. Without you Bobby probably would of stayed invisible for the rest of his life and would of lived every day like torture.I also admire that you don't hate your life, that you have learnt to move on. Without you Bobby's parents would of been even more stressed and would become over protective. I think that you could of improved if you could of just trusted Bobby when he told you he was invisible. You could of also improved on trying to understand your mothers feelings. You know she follows you and can be very protective but you need to understand that that is because she cares about you.
Dear Alica, WOW! If I was blind and going through that kind of problum with bobby then I probably would of like...exploded. So I give you a double thumbs up for that. You also put a little romantic twist on this book. With out that little twist, the book would be a little boring. You really bring a lot of emotions to this book. Let's say I replaced you with a different character and s/he was in a wheel chair and the same thing happened, but in a different way. It wouldn't be good, because you have a funny nice personality that really make the book POP. With out a person like you, Bobby would have no friend to depened on and tell everything to. One little thing you need to improve on is that you sometimes get a little to serious. At some parts you are a little to serious, like on page 104 when Bobby asked you how you became blind and you kind of got kind of to serious and my advice for that is to losen up a little. you'll be fine!!
Dear Alicia, I think you're a really great character, because you are courageous, smart, and kind. If I could pick someone to be my friend, I would DEFINITELY pick you. You're awesome in the story! But it's true that you shouldn't be so... rigid (and scream a lot) when your emotions are down. You should just relax and explain to whoever you're talking to that you're uncomfortable and want to talk about something else. Also, you should agknowledege your parents more, Yeah, they're always fussing over you, but they do it because they love you and don't want you to get hurt. You're like Bobby when he turns invisible. His parents are watchign over him like hawks, but even though they're annoying, they're showing affection. But apart from that, you're " the ideal person ". If I was you, I would be totally glum all the time, because it would be a big shok that I couldn't see, and it would freak me out. It would PETRIFY me to know I would never see my family members' faces again. I'm amazed at you for "living in the moment" and keeping your cool. It's really smart of you because if you were negative all the time,it would ruin the rest of your life !!! You have the best personality, and you are strong in heart, so I think I rate you... 10 out of 10 ! I think that a quote that you should think about every time you lose it is: Suck it up, buttercup! I hope it works !
