The Lightning Thief

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, is the first book in the Percy Jackson series. This book is based on Greek Mythology. Rick Riordan writes about the underworld, Greek Gods, such as Zeus and Hera, and monsters. Who are the monsters after? Half-bloods.

When I read the title I was thinking, wow, I am not reading this book, it sounds way too scary. But I was convinced because so many people have recommended it. I'm now almost half way through with The Lightning Thief. It is scary, but in a fun and entertaining way. In addition, I think all the detail Rick Riordan put into it is incredible. He described all the different gods in way that I could picture them sitting right next to me. How's that for a book?

This book is action packed and full of adventure, and it has some violent parts too. But also, his writing is funny in some ways. He uses certain words such as, reeked, honey, and scrawny, which don't seem to go with his basic writing, but I laugh at them anyway. So whenever I come across similar words to these words, it brings me into a whole new world full of mystery and excitement.

There is always something going on in The Lightning Thief. I can't stop reading. There are way too many cliffhangers in this book I would not dare to count them. Sometimes I almost fall of my seat wile I'm reading. The Lightning Thief is a wonderful book.
