The Subtle Knife
I am reading the Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman. It is an interesting and complicated story from the series His Dark Materials, which includes the Golden Compass, another great book by Philip Pullman. The Subtle Knife is about a girl named Lyra, and a boy named Will, but Will is basically the main character, I think. The Subtle Knife is a magical blade that can cut through dimensions. But the point of the Subtle Knife to me was very complicated. I didn't know why the other bearers were chosen to carry the knife, and you don't even know why Will even is. I have many questions, even though I'm finished! This book, and His Dark Materials in general, would be an 8+.

I'm reading the Golden Compass, the first book in the series, and so far it's been very challenging to read because I don't think I've got to the good parts yet.
ReplyDeleteI had really wanted someone to help me with the series and explain some of it to me, and your blog kinda helped me with that.
I am reading the Golden Compass for a book club with Annapurna,Emily, and Matais. I think it is very challanging but a very good book. I think that the Golden Compass is confusing because it throws some many different important things all at one time and it is veryhard to keep track of all of them.I would recamend this book to any body.Great post.

ReplyDeleteHey have you guys heard? In Canada, and most public and private schools The Golden Compass and those books have been banned! Matias,Claire,Emily, and I are reading it for a book club. I don't see why it would be banned. For the project we where going to see the movie. It seems really scary, and intense. I'm not sure what I want to do anymore. Yes, I am a little afraid of the movie.
