Rapunzel's Revenge by Shannon & Dean Hale

So, you think you know the story of Rapunzel? Think again. This graphic novel is like no other fairy tale you have read. Set in the Wild West, Rapunzel is raised by the wicked Mother Gothel. When her wicked "mother" puts her in a prison tower, Rapunzel outsmarts her by using her loooooong braids as a means of escape. The wild situations she gets herself into just never seem to stop. I kept thinking, "oh no, not another dangerous escapade". She teams up with Jack, a former outlaw, to try to right the wrongs of the world and help the oppressed. I found the adventure to be non-stop, the illustrations amazing (the illustrator said it took him a year), and the dialog kept me chuckling throughout. What's more, the ending is quite satisfying!

  1. Though I am only at beginning Rapunzel's Revenge, I have already begun to like it. I was kind of confused because it didn't tell where her parents went? Though I knew because I read the story tail. My favorite part so far, is when she climbs up the wall and sees the world beyond the castle. The reason why this part is my favorite is because it feels like I'm her and am totally blanked out while looking at the land that she is looking at. It made me gasp when I looked at that comic box. This book has been sitting on top of my desk and has been waiting to be read and I finally got the chance which I am happy about
This comic book is REALLY REALLY good and really made me think about how much better I think this book was then the real Rapunzel was.
