Alabama Moon
I am reading Alabama Moon. For the first 20 pages it might seem a bit like My Side of the Mountain. It's not. There are a few ways you could think of Alabama Moon as depressing, sad, different, or fantastic.I thought it was fantastic. When Moon the main character's dad dies and Moon has to survive on his own in the forest he learns a lot more than how to make spears. This story is not like what you think it's going to be it is better.

Do you think that people should read My Side of the Mountan before this book?
ReplyDeleteIf it's a little bit like My Side of the mountian than maybe Hatchet would be a good book to read with it?
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that you love this book. I kept wanting to know what was going to happen, and I couldn't put it down. Even though the book is fiction, I find it facinating that there really are people such as Moon and his father that make the choice to live like they do. What would make a person want to do that?
ReplyDeleteI think that people might want to do that because it might be really cool and a great experience because you relay on your wits and strength. I think it might be fun to be almost like an indian.
ReplyDeleteI just finished Alabama Moon, and I agree that at first it does sound like My Side of the Mountain, but it's not. I think it is really about Moon's growing up, and making choices for himself, and I also think it is about friendship. It really scared me in that part of the book that Moon goes right up to Sanders and says " It's Moon" because it was so creepy about what he does next.
