The Golden Compass
I am reading this book with my dad. This book is about a girl how lives at Jordan College in England. This book has a lot of old English in it. It also has a lot of hard grammar. I think it's a great book to help you get better grammar. I know that I've have learned a lot more words. We have to look up words we don't know; but it makes the book even better because we know what the words mean.

Whell this book sounds a very lot interesting because it sounds like in interesting adventue and that is my book geanra that i reely like.
ReplyDeleteYes, the Golden Compass is a very good book, and the movie is coming out in december. It is also a fairly complicated book. I know that Emi is also reading it, and she's way ahead of me. I also think that it's kind of scary. I also really like the daemins idea. It also has a very interesting topic. I really like Patalaiman's personality. I am personaly exited for "the North", it sounds very epic. I'm not very far in the book, just like one hundred something. Do you think Ms. Coulter is good or bad?
ReplyDeleteWhat is your rateing,do you
ReplyDeletesuggest it alot?
I don't think that you have to look the words up that much. But you do have to every now and then. Anyways since we are reading this book for book clubs I want to say that I think Lyra will get to "The north" and for some reason I think be disappointed. Like maybe,Ms. Coulter, will some how change her mind. Griffin, I do think that Ms. Coulter is bad. But I think that by the end of the book whatever is making her be that way will stop. I think that she will become good again. I say again because I think that she was once a good person. Ether that, or Lord Astral is doing something bad and Ms. Coulter is doing something that will end up being good compared to him. But I doubt it. Bailey I think so far( giving the fact that I am not done) I would give this book a nine. Nine because, it is so dense and heavy duty that it seems to take forever to read so I wouldn't give it a ten. I give it a nine because it is so detailed and thorough. I think the author did a really good job of showing not telling. He goes the extra mile when it comes to his writing. Well, off to read!
ReplyDeleteI am also reading this book and you are right it does have very complicating grammer and this is very good book for enyone that likes the kinda mestery fantesy. This is a very good book for my tipe of reading i think it is a preety hard book but it is worth it i do not recomend this book as a one day read becaause it would not soak in the story. This book so far is very scary in a part
ReplyDeleteThis obveously is a good book. At least it sure sounds like it. I was thinking of seeing the new movie about it but I think i'll wait and read the book.
ReplyDeleteGriffin and Matias. You both say this book is scary. What makes it scary?
ReplyDeletethere's this part where two bears fight each other to see who would be king. one had to kill the other to be king. but that's in the end. That's what was the scaryist part to be.
ReplyDeleteThis is my post that was due today.
ReplyDeleteThe Golden Compass is a book about a tough girl named Lyra. Lyra's world is a world where everyone has something called a daemon. A daemon is like a spirit to a human. A childs daemon can change into any animal it likes and once the child matures, their daemon finds one animal form to stay the rest of it's life. Lyra travels to "the North" in search of her father, Lord Asriel, and to find a large group of adults called "the gobblers". They capture children whos daemons hadn't matured and take them to a place up in the north. Nobody knows what they do to the children but they know it's bad. Lyra ends up finding them and she escapes with the children and leaves to go rescue her father, whos held prisoner in the bear kings castle. Lyra brings a bear named Iorek Byrnson who is the exiled prince of the kingdom. Now there's a new king and he has completely different ways of leading the bears. The two bears fight for the kingdom and Iorek ends up killing the other king and Lyra's father is freed. But he has different intentions than what
lyra expected. The voices in my head were saying all kinds of things to me. They were saying stuff like; " No! That's not a good idea!" or " Wow that was really brave". There were so many things going on in the story that somethimes I had to stop and slow down just to understand what was happening in the story. The one thing that really interested me in the story was the whole daemon idea. I mean, how cool would it be to have basicaly your spirit walking in the shape of any animal you could emagine? You would never get lonely, and there would always be somebody to share your ideas with and chat with. If I had a daemon and it had to stay in one shape, I would have a fox named Nera( usualy your daemon is the opposite gender).
