Hatchet

by Gary Paulsen

Hatchet is about a kid who crashes in a plane. When he wakes up to find himself in the alpine, that's when it gets bad. Now Brian has to survive the bears and bugs. Will he make it?

When I read this book I was wide eyed the whole time. Maybe you will be too. I think the adventure never stops. It's so great.

My rating for this book is 9.9 (or 5 stars)

  1. Okay, I can't help but ask what it is that makes this book fall .01 short of a 10. Can you shed some light on this for me?

  4. You're right. It is past my bedtime. The big clue is not the time, but my mathematical ability. 9.9+.01 does not equal 10! So, I officially revise my question to Joe: What is it that makes this book fall .1 short of a 10? You guys don't let me get away with anything! :-o

  6. Wo, wo, wo! Back up rewind and don't go there. That book is really good! Your right it might not be a perfect page turner, but it's super good! I really liked it because it really shows relying on nature and the enviorment and what it has to give. I think that after anyone reads that book they should be grateful of what a good home they have and that they get education. I think this book really makes you realize how lucky we really are.

  7. Piko, pal, how do you infer that the book must be bad? Can you clarify?

  8. Exuse me! This for posting comments about the blog! Not for chatting about bedtimes and math! By the way, that sounds like a great book and I would love to try it. It's always been my dream to be able to survive in nature. It's so interesting how you can use your surrondings in nature to survive.

  9. If you like the idea of survival in nature, you should read the book Alabama Moon! Check out Lauren's blog on it, Max. I think you would really like the story. Yawn...time for some shut eye! LOL
